The EMS supports microscopy meetings in Europe on 5 different levels:
- Every meeting can have its information distributed through the communication channels of The Society (bulk- mail and website calendar),
- The Society can patronage events,
- The Society can give limited financial support to local events,
- Each year a multi-national meeting can be selected as the EMS Extension and
- Every 4 years EMS organizes the European Microscopy Congress (EMC) in close collaboration with a local organizing team.
