The School will introduce students and researchers to the imaging and spectroscopy techniques related to Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Lectures will cover the working principles of TEM instruments and detectors, the concepts of electron diffraction, coherent and incoherent imaging, as well as X-ray and Electron Energy-Loss spectroscopy, in-situ experimentation, image simulation and analysis. Practical sessions on SAED, CBED, HREM, HAADF-STEM, EELS and EDS will provide an immersive demonstration of TEM operation.

Dutch Microscopy Days 2026
After the great success of the Microscopy Days 2025, NEMI, NL-BioImaging, and NVvM are joining forces again to organise the Dutch Microscopy Days 2026 on November 2-3 2026 in Maastricht. The event will consist of one day focused on light microscopy, and one day, focused on electron microscopy. The event will also host the NVvM general assembly which is open to everyone. Website Flyer
